Comparison of the ABZZ mnemonic system and the Phonetic Number system

The most commonly used number memory mnemonic system already in existence is the “Phonetic number system also called the Major Mnemonic Memory System.  The Phonetic number system has been used for centuries.  It is said to be powerful and effective but difficult to master and encumbered by excess demand on time and mental effort.  The Phonetic Number Memory System is also known as the Major Memory System.

BENEFITS of the ABZZ system

The ABZZ mnemonic system has the following advantages over the phonetic system:

  1. It is much easier to learn, understand and apply. The principles of the ABZZ can be mastered in a few minutes.
  2. It is not confounded by many rules
  3. Every number digit is represented by two different consonants facilitating the ability to generate multiple letter combinations for word codes
  4. It is not confounded by phonetic variations. There are no phonetic components in the ABZZ system. Every letter retains the same number equivalent no matter the pronunciation, accent or phonetics.
  5. The ABZZ can be used in any language written with the English-Latin Alphabet system, regardless of phonetics. This increases the range of word vocabulary available to users.
  6. Each letter retains its status independent of associated letters or sound alterations.
  7. The letter “H” will always code for 2 regardless of whether it changes phonation as in “CH”, SH”, “GH” or “PH”.
  8. The letter “C” will always code for 7 whether it is a hard C or a soft C.
  9. The letter “G” will always code for 9 whether it is a soft “G” or a hard “G”.
  10. Mute letters are not neglected. In the ABZZ system, the word “debt” translated into numbers would be “823”. The “B” is not neglected because it is silent. The word “Colonel” will translate as “7515” regardless of whether one “L” is silent or not.
  11. Abbreviations can be used in the ABZZ system because it has no phonetic component. Thus “” will translate as 71174”.
    The ABZZ comes with a ready-made thesaurus with 2 examples of word code equivalents of every number from “0 – 9999”. This makes it easier to use for those who don’t have the time to create their own word equivalents. The ready-made thesaurus reduces demand on time and mental effort.
  12. Every word or combinations of words which you see or form can represent a number. These could be grammatical words or names of people, places, events, living and non-living things.
